I spent the vast majority of my life being concerned with making money only to wind up a miserable old man. No one can deny the need for a good career job that pays well but at what cost.
The need to fulfill those inner passions are also important as they offer something that money can't buy, happiness.
Good luck on your decision, it's more important than you may realize.

I think that if you're sure that you have a good voice for opera you should go for it. It's difficult to go for a job in a career you don't like. Studying and working towards it will feel harder and possibly less satisfying. You only live once. Make sure that the life you're living is the life you want.
Yes, buying a home for your parents would be wonderful. Being able to support yourself would be great. You can still do that by choosing a career you can enjoy. Your life can be more satisfying.

You'll definitely make great money as a pharmacist. Could you possibly do pharmacy for a few years, then go after the singing career?
I must say that I used to make pretty darn good money doing what I used to do (optician)..but I'm a lowly secretary now and the money reeks. But I am SO HAPPY! The stress is almost non-existent. I make up for it money-wise by selling on eBay. : )

(a million) because the monetary subject grew detrimental the previous few years, fewer households were waiting to have adequate money a 4-12 months college/college classes. (2) Falling grades. this may clarify itself, perfect? although some universities provide joint-classes with an section college. A student can nevertheless get carry of the college degree even as starting up off contained in the community college. also, some human beings would no longer have severe adequate grades for admittance right into a school, so that they spend one or 2 years at an section college previously shifting right into a 4-12 months company. (3) Shift in pastimes, community faculties do not provide a similar kind of classes a school/college does and vice-versa. no longer everyone calls for a bachelors degree to pursue their occupation.

Of course I will answer your question. In life you have to main things that you shouldn't mess cuz those things will follow to the res to your life: your profession and your man to marry with. If you mess these two things you won't be happy.
But living in now days it's practical to think in another way. Money are not something that just makes our life better..but money became very important factor.
If you are young enough, then I should suggest to study pharmacie....you can always sing then.... don't throw your passion away, but not your chance for a better life. When you will have your diploma in your pocket then you can sing whenever you like.
Still it's up to you.
good luck, my yahoo friend.

Philosophy doesn't pay.
Go for the money and continue to pursue your singing aspirations at the same time. If a good opportunity comes up in your dream career, make a switch.
While you're earning good money, save and invest wisely so you can get out of pharmacy without ending up in the poor house.

Surely you've other options besides opera and Pharmacy. If you hate Pharmacy don't do it. But opera is a HIGHLY competitive endeavor. You've got to have more than passion to sing opera.
Can you hit the high F's as 'Queen of the Night'?

If you dislike your job you will not do your best in it....Money doesn't buy happiness. Singing is not a career that you usually just jump into and do well.....so you need to find a job for while you are working on that that you do like. The world is stressful enough without intentionally taking a job you don't like just for the money.

Well that depends, do you think that you will be able to do something with the money you are going to achieve, if not then go for what makes you happy.
If you really work hard at it you can get the career you want and still support yourself.

Any time you say something is your passion and really mean it the question is already answered. If you allow anything to sway you from singing then it is not truly a passion. I know you love your mother and she is probably trying to make sure you don't get hurt, but passion for anything some times hurts. Jesus's passion for us put him on across to die for our sins, but he had to do it for his love of us that is what true passion is.
