When i try to connect to the computer via my network places it says that i dont have access and that i should contact network admin

Ok here it goes, On one computer, the one i am trying to share the files of the other computer Shows up in the WorkGROUP computers window but i cant access it.. From the other computer, I cannot access the work group. both work groups are under the same name.

Check your WORKGROUP settings (NetBIOS name), both should be in the same group. Check also your ip addresses, subnet mask and default gateway. If you already have checked both, then i'm guessing there is a FIREWALL program that is not allowing you TO and FRO communications. TRY disabling or shutting down (EXIT) any firewall program or internet security program (usually NORTON, ZONEALARM), and then access the network again (either by waiting for 3-5 minutes or system restart)

Just at a guess.... you may be trying to connect to a node (computer) that's not in the same workgroup... can you see it in the "network places" list?

Or, you may not have set up the other computer to share.

Or, it may be shareable only by a specified username/pwd combination...
