christmas tree needles
oooh so familiar at this time of year as many go and buy a real tree
as some say , a fake tree would be the answer ,
but a real tree with it's beauty from decorationing it with baubles and the trimmings makes it a little special , just the needle drop
however , it is best to wait till nearer Christmas itself for a real tree and allow it to stand in water overnight so that the tree can store as much water as possible ,
you can of course pop along to your local horticulture store and buy a spray to spray onto the needles to prevent needle drop again not exepensive at all
or you can go for the more dearer christmas trees , some may have roots on
if they do place a plastic liner at the very bottom of the pot so it will hold water as when it's indoors , the room it be in will be warm , moisture you give the tree will soon evaporate
hope this helps
have a nice christmas

water your tree this is a bit tricky when decorated but helps there are some things on the market that do this also you could by a tree that has minimal drop like a Douglas fir they cost a bit more and to know if it is a minimum drop tree the needles are thicker than cheaper trees dont use hair spray as it can cause a fire if you put lights on it

Leave the tree in the ground and needles will not drop as long as the tree lives.

Water the tree using a solution of 1 part used coffee grounds to 1 part rum - you should only need half a cupful worth or so - this will guarantee that the needles do not fall.

Lay an old sheet under the tree, My mother had the same promblem, and she let the pine needles fall onto the sheet, and when its over then pick up the sheet and throw it out, some people use fake snow on the tips so when the needles fall they look like snow flakes

The needles drop because the tree is dry and dying.

If possible, dont buy a tree yet. Then you wont have to worry about the needles yet lol. No seriously, keep it well watered.

You want a 'Nordman' non drop Xmas tree - I had one last year, and they really don't drop their needles! They cost a little more, but personally I think it's worth it. I bought it at my local garden centre.
