I just pulled the electric blanket out of the drawer for the winter, and it smells stale and has dog fur on it. The cord does detach from the blanket. Is it true you can't put an electric blanket in the washer? Or how do you clean it?

yes you can ... with cord removed. just let hang dry and not machine dry. i have several i have done this too. when you placee them away for the next summer. try laying a dryer sheet or 2 between them. keeps you from washing them every winter before use.

Follow the cleaning label directions on the blanket.
OR - goto the web site of the maket and see if there are instructions for cleaning.
If it is just smell you are worried about maybe tossing it in the dryer on air dry without hear might air it out a bit.

You can wash the blanket. However it needs to air dry.

Yes.. some crazy people do put it in the washing machine but I NEVER NEVER NEVER would.. I would have it dry cleaned.. that is the ONLY and SAFEST way to clean it.
