We'll first of all, if you have any doubts at all you should automatically go see a doctor. She likely only has an allergy if she is having a reaction. Swelling of the area, pain and itch are most common symptoms. I am allergic to caterpillars myself (but oddly enough not butterflys). If she was poisoned she would probably have very severe symptoms by now. Wouldn't hurt to take her to a walk-in clinic.

Depending on where you are the caterpillar might be an "Acharia stimulea", commonly referred to as a saddleback. I don't believe they're any more dangerous than a common wasp or bee.

Hope this helps.

Hard to say. Asps, a variety of caterpillar, are hairy or spiky white
on the outside.

Their sting is painful, and can be serious, especially when people have a sensitivity or allergic reaction to them.

Maybe you should have her see a doctor immediately.

Well the first question I am asking is what gave you the idea it was poisonous?? I have been bitten by spiders that have left various shaped welts but they were not poisonous spiders. I would have to say that if she was experiencing any reactions symptomatic to that of a poisonous insect bite or sting that she should definitely seek medical attention.
