Try looking on www.booking.com or www.hotelsinholland.com
I just came back from there and stayed in the Nova Hotel, very close to Dam Square, not too noisy, nice rooms. I paid 85euros per night through booking.com
Have a great time and before you go, check out www.channels.nl for lots of specific advice about where to go while you're there. Lots of it from people who are actually there right now.
Have a great time!

This is a great place. Really something special with rockconcerts, entertainment, etc. 2 minutes from Dam Square on the edge of the Red Light District.

I recommend suite259 its a B&B. Peter and Aziz are wonderful!! My husband and I went last year and they even told me where to go to get the muffins or space cakes is what they call them. They have a balcony off of your room and they suggest you smoke on there. But they are awesome the place is right by the rail so when you get ready to go back to the room or go into town you just hop on cost a couple of euros but you can also get day passes. Aziz is an amazing cook we had fresh fruits juices and home made meals they even go beyond to putting your favorite flowers in the room and a bottle of wine with a stock fridge!!

It depends on your budget and what facilities you are looking for. Hotels in Amsterdam are expensive so choose wisely.
