Ralph Waldo Emerson said: "The definition of success--To laugh much; to win respect of intelligent persons and the affections of children; to earn the approbation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give one's self; to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition.; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm, and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived--this is to have succeeded."

I think it covers everyting

being a good person through whatever..
being true e to yourself and no matter your situation doing the best you can.
some of the poorest are the most successful.
Mother Theresa and Gandhi did very well.
as a tyke i though all rich people were kind and mannered and nice..as i got older i learned that financial success too often comes at the price of much else. and success and failures are covered by not exposed by wealth..
you need enough to survive and sometimes times the choices are none of them good, so life is a balancing act. between personal success and financial success. even Bill Gates decided to give up much of one to concentrate on the other.

The definition of success is to feel content with your life. You have not reached success unless you are happy. So in reality happiness and success are inter combined. Just be happy and you have reached success.

For me success comes when someone else tells me I've done a good job!
The most important one up to now being bringing up my children! Both tell me they love me and that I was, and still am, a great Mum! (They are both 30+ and happy well-adjusted adults) What more success do I need!

Success is reaching an outcome that is a benifit to you. Even if you guess wrong on an experiment, and something else happens, you can still call it a success if you learned something and are happy about it.

The only true failures are those who give up, or don't accept what is stated in front of them.

It means achieving whatever you set out to achieve. Success as a generic term in America is tied to money and I think that is way off.

To be well rounded in life.Draw a circle on a page with a centre point.Divide the circle up into seven parts named ;Finances, love, health, hapiness, career, spirituality, home.Start at the centre and mark yourself a dot from the centre to the outside circle, rating how you see yourself in each of the catagories. The outside circle represents 10points,further towards the centre represents less points. After you have given youself points on each catagories, join your dots to see how well rounded you are.If you have a perfect circle, close to the outside circle, then I would say you are successful,o well rounded in life.

self actualisation^^ with a reasonable amount of money...how much..? I don't know yet. I used to think that money doesn't matter, but recently I realised that it matters..quite a bit. However, that doesn't mean that being very rich = success to me.
