Do you enjoy working during the holidays? I don't work during the holidays anymore because I work in the office now. Do you think it's wrong for some people to work during the holidays?

I work in TV, which is a 24/7/365 job! I hate working the holidays, but I understand that this is the job I have, and I have to do it!
Usually though, if we work a holiday, we get another one off! For instance, I am working Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, but I have New Year's Eve and Day off! This works out for me, because I'd rather party hard on New Years, and the people that have children get to stay home with them on Christmas!
Its all about give and take! As much as it sucks to work the holidays and not enjoy them like the rest of the world, it has its benefits! I get extra holiday pay and/or an extra vacation day to use! Plus, there is no management people around, and there is usually good food ordered for us!!
You're lucky to have found an office job. You are one of the few that will appreciate us poor saps that have to work the holidays so the rest of the world can enjoy them!! :-D

Working the holidays is an essential part of some businesses. I work for a chemical manufacturer, and even though we shut down the plant for the holidays, there are those of us who have to show up, if nothing else to make sure nothing is going to blow up, or over spill. So yes, I do work Holidays, it is enjoyable to be the sole person monitoring everything, and yet not making any product. Of course the double pay is trully the best part. I also agree that in order for our country to not stand on it's head, we need our EMTs, Phds, Nurses, Firemen, Police Officers, and many others to keep doing what needs to be done. I was in the Army for 6 years, and there is never a holiday for those professionals. Heck, even Santa has to work the holidays, so why shouldn't the rest of us?

I hate working New Years Day, Halloween, Christmas but I don't mind working Thanksgiving.

I am happy that there are nurses, firefighters, police and some grocery store clerks working on holidays!
My job is stressful from the holidays. I can't wait until January and it gets less stressful!!

I have always think that there are things that people will have to keep doing always because if I don't do it...someone else have to...I can hate that...but is impossible to remedy...The show must continue
