Because sometimes there is work to be done on the holidays and someone has to do it.

Some services do not close - eg. fire fighters, ambulance service, hospitals, police, phone companies...etc.

And if the services don't stop, someone has to do the work.

Some jobs have to be done regardless of the day. Nurses, police, fire are all needs that need no season.

Other occupations like restaurants and gas stations are open because society has come to demand it.

Others make no sense at all. When I was in high school, I worked at Pizza Hut and we were open Easter Sunday. We spent most of the day trying to break the unbreakable Cambro plates, since we had no customers at all.

Depends what you do for a living. Anyone in the retail business, or myself as a Hairstylist, holidays are our busiest times.

I guess it's not their choice. Who would want to work at all if they dont have to?
