I had two extremely easy births. I stayed active throughout both pregnancies by walking, doing kegels, pelvic thrusts (on your hands and knees, not on your back), leg squats and breathing exercises. If it is not too late, take a Bradley class. The Bradley method of birthing is all about pain management to help the woman have a "natural" birth with no drugs involved. Drugs can enter the babies system during delivery, causing adverse effects. Some people take Lamaze classes, I chose Bradley. You can get more information on Bradley births by going to the following website:

Also, during labor, you can take showers, this is called "natures epidural". Walking during labor eases a lot of pain, too.

Walking during pregnancy and eating healthy will keep the weight of the unborn baby under control. Try to stay away from sweets and eat whole foods only, no white flour foods.

Congratulations and have a wonderful upcoming birth-day!

Many moms on my group that have more than 5 children say the bigger ones were earlier regardless of birth order. However, second babies tend to be easier and faster anyway.

Going to a chiropractor can help birth go faster and easier by ensuring proper fetal alignment. You can find one specializing in prenatal and infant care at:
www.icpa4kids.org

Midwives and home births are also generally easier as birth lights, stress, and constant internal assessments make delivery harder and longer.

It is pretty common for the 2nd child to be bigger than the first. It's important to watch what you eat and to exercise. Swimming is really good, as it takes the pressure off your back. I went to a pre-natal swim class. We were held under water, holding our breath, for as long as we could do it, to practice for the pushing, as that is the tough thing, especially if the baby is big. Please don't try smoking to reduce the size of the baby. That's not healthy for either of you. Exercise, follow a good diet plan, take prenatal vitamins, and talk to your doctor. You can also find out a lot at www.webmd.com

Yes, 2nd and 3rd (and all others) are often times bigger than the first. My oldest brother was the smallest of all 6 of us at 7lbs 2oz....the next 4 of us were all 9lbs-something...then my youngest sibling was 10lbs 2oz.

My mother has also said though that each delivery after your first is easier. I hope so, because my first was brutal and I'm hoping my next one in February will be better!

And to make it easier...epidural!! God's greatest gift to women!

in case you want to have an extra accessible and swifter transport, stay off of your rear end. No sitting, no mendacity down. (No, you do not should be monitored. that's for the wellness middle, no longer for you or your infant. once you're healthful, that's thoroughly unnecessary.) walk, squat, kneel, rock, stability on a birthing ball. slow dance which include your husband. (No, i'm no longer kidding. slow dance and kiss. The action and the hormonal reaction to the kissing are both positive.) stay comfortable, keep your jaw open and comfortable (the state of your jaw mirrors the state of your cervix and pelvis) keep your sounds low and and visualize what's taking position -- your uterus is contracting in waves, taking off on the whole and squeezing downward (like squeezing toothpaste out of the tube) to press infant all the way down to have interplay your cervix which will reply through thinning and starting to enable infant out. imagine that procedure and keep transferring.

People deliver 14 lb. babies without problems since the body is able to expand. The doctor will know if the baby is too big and make alternate plans, if needed.

just stay active if you can. also, if you can deliver in an upright position instead of laying out helps; you know why we have to lay down, the convenience of the doctor, not us. anyway, good luck. my second baby was 9lb 11oz and i had him natural.
