If our Violent criminals in the UK want to fight why not send them to Iraq? to fight for HM Government?

Why keep anti social criminal in the luxury of prison costing us £700 per week and pensioner's get £90 ??

Just a thought The Duke of Welligton's army was mainly criminals

Another thought if it's in the genes perhaps the Aussie's reason for being good soldiers is because of relations that were criminlas

something I have thought was a great idea for a long while, anyone say over 17 and under 25, who is regularly in trouble, does not hold down a proper job, and shows no remorse for crimes committed should be conscripted into the armed forces, But I guess this would breach his/hers human rights, the fact that the majority of the country would probably agree, we are supposed to be a democracy, would mean nothing, the rights of the few, albeit the minority who wish to lead a life of crime and harass the law abiding majority would come first and not the opinion and human rights of the majority

I think its because they are fighting the "system".
Sending them off would be great, but does that mean they have to join the army etc - thats a job - that means signing off.... which also means have to conform to society.
They would still probably end up fighting themselves..... or worse still swap sides & fight against those who sent them there in the first place.
If they wanna fight.... let them fight each other for bed spaces.

Why not bring back National Service, so they can learn respect, discipline & morality for themselves & others!

Because fighting in the British Army would require discipline, courage, comradeship, team work and dedication.

Things that the average street thug knows nothing about.

Put them in a war situation where they had to be men and REAL courage was required (like that of Private Johnson Beharry VC who risked his life to save his comrades) and they would cry for their mummy.

i agree with monkey man , if they are violent here, then what would be like for innocent civilians in iraq, you seem to forget that innocent people like you and i live there also despite what is happening
one soldier just got life for raping a 14 yo girl in iraq, what would a bank robber or paedophile be like over there.so just remember innocent folk live in iraq, just because they do not speak english does not mean they do not have humanity.
