There is always room for improvement, no matter where you are or where you are from. The local communities each deal with hunger and poverty in different ways, but by for the children in the US most get fed, most have a roof over their heads, and clothes on their backs. There are a few who slip through the cracks, and it is unfortunate but in comparison with the rest of the world the poverty line is much smaller. Solving hunger and poverty issues worldwide should be everyone's main concern and perhaps one day it will be. Until then we can only do what we can to make it better.

You will get many different answers for this one. Some may bash poor people. What these folks shouldnt forget is that there is one group of Americans that is completely innocent and has no control over their financial situation... the CHILDREN.
Children should not be punished for their parents mistakes. Some parents never really made mistakes, sometimes bad things happen to good people. One thing is for sure, even in the land of opportunity, where you started is a good indication of where you'll end up. This is especialy true for those born into high society and wealth.

I don't believe that everybody is poor, but more or less, appears to be poor. There are those that live off the states, but own big homes and nice cars. Some of these people are investigated and for Fraud and some slip through the system.
People that appear to be rich, can actually be classified as poor because they have no disposable income. Society has educated people on credit and how to use to it, but has done nothing for teaching people how not to spend. These people are spending 150% of their annual income on homes and cars because they are trying to keep up with everyone else.
Let's look at it this way. My husband and I have no credit cards, no loans from the banks, except for our two cars that were under 12k. We are happy and we are not out to compete with everybody else, but rather appreciate every moment together with the kids.
Scenario #2, people live off credit, buy houses that are way over priced, buy vehicles that are way over priced and have to use their credit cards because they can not afford to even buy groceries. They have no extra cash.
So, tell me who is rich and who is poor. I would say that I am rich and the people in scenario #2 are poor.
It is all left up to interpretation!

My family lives below the poverty line and we just bought our own home 8 months ago. My son doesn't get Christmas and birthdays, but he has his own room. Even the poor in America can save money if they really try. We never eat out unless someone else takes us and pays. We recycle cans. My son mows lawns and does small errands for the neighbors. My son is only 14 or he would work a minimum wage job. So I guess we have it much better then the poor of other nations.
There is a big difference between the high cost of living and the cost of living high.

We have what called a trickle down economic which is exactly what it sounds like. It has never worked but it is part of the Government so we teach it. One of our parties advocates big businesses, low taxes and no help for anyone. However in the long run we end up paying twice (medical, food, shelter) as much to help these needy individuals. These same individuals preached that a $300 tax refund last year turned this nation around. If we are in such a shape that was the case we are in real trouble. These same individuals run up huge bills helping our huge companies and building a giant Army and Navy but do not want to have taxes to pay for them. China is quietly buying up all of our loans in fact they are already to a point where they can steer our Government to their convenience. Yes we might be the land of the Free but a more appropriate name might be the house wrecking brought to you by Rush and Hannity and their friends. God Bless You and The Southern People.

There aren't. This is just one of the Big Lies that the left-wing in the US rely on to try and keep their supporters FEELing guilty and paying high taxes.
The typical "poor" person in the US has a car (and gasoline to power it), a home (rented or owned (yes, many of the "poor" in the US own homes)), ample clothing and food, the normal panoply of entertainment gear (TV, etc.) and, while having much less consumer goods than many other people, they are living much better than most of the people in other parts of the world.
