You only have a criminal record if you have been caught and found guilty. Nothing to do with your personal morals or ethics.
If you think you have just been lucky, then stay silent.
Lots of people break laws every day, depending on their logic or the situation. It doesn't make them bad, and they soon forget about it.
There are many psychopaths out there who get away with murder and other horrible crimes, then feel a need to confess. That's a different matter.
I doubt you are one of those!
Don't worry about it on here, if you a mass murderer, we'll all be accomplices. If you just took a few quid when no-one was looking, you seem sorry enough. Don't beat yourself up about it, but try to ease your conscience by doing something nice for the person you stole from.
I don't know your circumstances, and those were just two extreme examples.
Only you can live with yourself, so answer your own question spontaneously and see what answer you get!

I wonder if you are actually being serious or just tongue in cheek. You can be a criminal and not have a criminal record (never been caught). Likewise it is also conceivable for one to have a record yet not be a criminal (wrongful conviction). Assuming this question applies to yourself, you might not want to reveal your lucky streak if posed the question.

mmm, I dont recognize in line with threat the previous is a sturdy indicator of the destiny...your stable faith in human beings is a destructive indicator while determining who you will possibly desire to believe in a job requiring comparable. If the guy is a baby molester and he became into employed on the stable faith that the interviewer had, there could be alot of injured toddlers and pissed off mom and dad. I do think of that individuals might desire to be judged on the data that they have got. Any corporation that knowingly hires somebody who has a criminal checklist opens themselves as much as all varieties of problems if that man or woman offends returned. WHy might any SANE man or woman take that threat? If I owned a economic company, the verify kiter does not have a raffle to even interview. that's not proper to me if he got here into the interview with an Armani healthful and a notarized letter from his priest. maximum performed thieves have grasp the artwork of mendacity in midsection college. they might earnings the arrogance of the main diligent hiring managers. luckily there is yet another gadget (the criminal checklist) for them to foretell who would be a sucessful hire. a minimum of with the guy who has no longer been caught, the boss has conceivable deniablitiy. If the boss employed the criminal and he stole money from the economic company (returned) the shareholders might call for his head mutually as they paid out thousands and thousands in court circumstances from the latest around of victims. Judging a man or woman based on your stable faith in human beings can get you killed: think of TED BUNDY

Sure. Many people have committed offences but were either not caught or were not convicted. You are only required to answer "yes" to the question if a court of law has passed sentence on you.

Is there a difference? Too right there is! The number of times a lawyer stands up and says "...and my client has been of good behaviour for 3 years since his last offence" - and all the police officers present mutter under their breath "what you mean is, he hasn't been caught for 3 years...".
But in the strict legal meaning of your question, there is all the difference in the world.
Convictions hand around your neck, wrongdoing when you 'get away with it' does not count against you.....in this world..... but the mills of God grind slow, but they grind exceeding small.
Cheers, take care and TRY to stay legal....
