Condoms have been known to break.

All it takes is one sperm to escape at just the right few days of teh month and she is pregnant.

It is wise to use another method in addition to condoms.

Continue to use condoms because they prevent sexually transmitted diseases and usually prevent pregnancy.

It should be. They say its about 99% safe. If the condom splits take the morning after pill but you shouldn't take it a lot. To be completely safe its best to be on the pill as well but it doesn't suit everyone and condoms work just fine.

No contraceptive is full proof and this should always be remembered. A condom should be used in conjunction with the gel that kills the sperm as well as being blocked by the condom.

Well we've used one for 14 years & never had one split or fall off - just what do these people do wrong?!!! Just didn't use one for the planned pregnancy bit of course but no mishaps along the way. Personally, I think it's safer than the pill in many ways.

Condoms by themselves have a 8-10% failure rate. I would not put all of my trust in them. Most forms of birth control are at most, 97% effective, such as the pill.

The big plus about the condom is protection from disease transmission.
