Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

bent_33 His solution actually worked for free no trial no gimics for free, although donations are encouraged. I used lavasofts adaware, safer networkings search and destroy, microsofts defender, AVG anti-virus, and none of them worked for this problem. I used bent_33 the file he recommended. Once properly unziped rebooted in safe mode ran scan then deleted all. It worked. and it really pisses me off all of these fake posts to solutions that are only trying to get you to buy there crap. When this original problem was just that; another freaking add installed maliciously. Then a bunch of people jump on this post and spam there crap. Thank you bent_33 you have been souch a big help!

Yeah, sketchy popups from your taskbar (and sketchy popups in general) that advise you to download stuff are normally a sign of spyware / adware / general badware. Run Spybot and AdAware. (If that doesn't work, try MS AntiSpyware and other reputable stuff, but Spybot and AdAware together generally get everything.)

Edit: forgot to mention the free (and reputable) antivirus, AVG. Not only is it free, but it doesn't crash your computer like Norton and other stuff tends to do (tries too hard and is impossible to remove cleanly when your subscription expires).
