Okay i am 31 weeks pregnant and my son is extremly excited about the baby coming, however he has had accidents in his pants pretty much everyday and im not talking about number 1 im talking about number 2, after he was potty trained i taught him to wipe his own bum, etc... and never even found a stain in his underpants, all of a sudden he is not wiping properly and also having accidents. I guess what i am asking is, is this a phase he is going through, is this because i am pregnant, is he trying to get more attention, but going the wrong way about it? and what do i do to solve the problem, etc...?
PLEASE HELP!!

~CHEERS!!~

When I was preg I read that it is very common for the older siblings (especially when there is a large age gap) to start actting out in order to gain attention. They also start reverting back to baby behavior. The idea is that they see the baby getting all this attention because it cant do anything for itself so the older child thinks that if they become dependent again the parents will show them the attention too.

What I did was make special time for daughter. We spent time on things she liked to do. I also made her feel that she had a very important role of big sister. We talked about how much the baby will look up to her, all the things she can do with the baby, etc. We even let her pick the middle name (she did a good job she picked Alexandra). She now tells people the baby is hers not mine. lol

Good luck and Congrats

It sounds like your son is regressing. He wants to make sure that this new baby will not take his place. Try talking to his pediatrician about your concerns. Also talk to your son about what to expect once the new baby gets here. That may help to ease his concerns enough that the accidents stop. He could be anxious or nervous about the pending arrival.

Allow him to help get ready for the baby as much as possible. Then he will feel like a part of the process instead of just the big brother.

Yes, i think hes a little jealous even if he doesnt know it, he just wants some attention, spend some quality time with him without talking about the baby and make sure he knows how much you love him!!!
good luck

Talk to him ... aks him whats going on ... he problem wont tell you .. he will jusdt say " i dunno .. its an accident" ... so then aski him what his fav. candy is and say after dinner if you didnt have any " accidents " then i will give youone piece of candy ... do this for a week or so if he stops having accidents ... but if it keeps going on then do it til he stops!! If he really is just having accidents then he will not get candy everyday only on the days he is accident free ... then that will show you it is just accidents ... but if he is just going through a phase then he willl stop automaticly so he can get candy !!! hope this helps

Tell him that he's a big boy now and should not be messing up his pants. Reward him everytime he does a big boy or mature action.
