It is possible that you are at risk from sleep apnoea, as has been noted.
Do you sleep alone? If not, has your partner noted your breathing diminishing, appearing to almost stop for a period, then suddenly starting up again? If that's the case, consult a doctor.
Another, simpler solution may be to try some of those "Breathe-right" strips... they keep the nasal passages open at night, eliminating the need for mouth-breathing, which leads to snoring :-)

Snoring can be a symptom of a dangerous disorder called sleep apnea. Untreated, it can damage your heart. Please go to a sleep specialist ASAP - this is nothing to risk delaying. It is 100% treatable with a device called CPAP. (Prescription only, as it has to be adjusted to your specifications.) You may need a referral from your regular doctor - get the process started right away.

Go the doctors. I did and found I needed to have my tonsils removed to ease snoring. Not had the op yet though.

You should get analyzed by your local sleep lab. You may need a CPAP. You may have sleep apnea.
