WOW! Major question there! The 1930's is so sheltered compared to this time frame. Women were still expected to be in the home and considered misfits and "wild women" if they varied from that norm. Today, a woman can be anything she chooses to be. Going back to girls - they were taught to be quiet and supportive back then and today you are taught to take care of yourself and NOT be taken advantage of. I can't say which is better, sometimes I wish my daughter didn't come in contact with so much at such a young age. Education is much more of a factor today, back then it was very normal for a girl to go directly from their parents house to their "husbands" house...and home economics - taught by your mom or nanny was the way to go ...your value was how good a homemaker you were and if you could "breed".

To get differences in TN and in India, just see the films that were released in 1930's and the present day films. The culture is changing day by day.
Women were not allowed to work in office or even to go outside the home. Now you can see every where women are woking with great courage and determination. We can give a lot of points on the improvement of women society.

Girls will be girls. Mainly in the 1930's they were more reserved as society expected this in a woman. Say a woman smoke and drink, she may not have done this as much in public in the 1930's as people would have freaked out and called her a Harlot. But, in nature they still about the same. Just as men are.

Girls in 1930 were follower.. now they are leaders. Many of just followed the path of living for well being of close relatives. Now the girl if she want can think and follow the path of well being for society and humankind. 1930 girl alwat sat backseat now we also see them on front seat even of a motorbike.

Girls of the 1930s were contolled by society and men. They were dependent on their families first, then on their husbands. They had no careers/professions, because her only role was to be a wife, mom, housekeeper.
Today's women are "self-controlled", independent, self-sufficient.
