My gf and I are like the odd couple but we love each other and have for years. Her parents don't know. We are at their house for the holiday. They think I am from Mars. I am sort of dark and witchy. They are evangelical Christians. My gf wants to tell them while we are all here together. I want to run for the border. What should we do? She is so trusting and will walk right into this with Ma and Pa Kettle downstairs. Help! :)

She needs to come out to them without you there.

Her sexual orientation is not about you.

If she comes out with you sitting beside her you become the "dark witchy" woman who "turned their daughter gay".

I think you'll all be much better off if she tells her parents separately and once they have had a little time to digest they can start getting to getting adjusted to you in relationship to their new understanding of their daughter.

Holidays are a bad time for major revelations like coming out. At best, any major holiday is a high stress time - and this will be like pouring gasoline on the flames.

It would be better to wait a few days - pick some random tuesday in December, or the third wednesday in January, rather than dropping a bombshell like this on the biggest family holiday of the year.
