I have my own business and read diffrent technical books to gain skills then I sell the services. The reading in the beginning is the only activity. do you consider the skill instruction reading to be applicable hard work. if done 40 - 60 hours a week

No, I was a technical author for the last 5 years of my working life, so I used to write the stuff, in an office environment, (mainly instrument control systems and operating proceedures) for 8 hours plus per day.
But your job really has me intrigued , 'you read technical books to gain skills and then sell the services'??
If you get time (from your very busy schedule) perhaps you could drop me a line and tell me what thats all about. I have been retired 3 years and must be well out of touch.
The stuff I wrote was for the of of technicians and plant operators.
Hope to hear from you (I'm not buying)!!

I think so. i have a huge problem with technical reading myself, as I get board easily. I am an avid reader, so its not like that is the problem. What is your secret?

8 hours a day, yeah

Not only technical, even my favourite subjects would be boring.
