a native american is a person who was born in america, first nations people on the other hand also celebrate thanksgiving or don't try making friends with some first nations people and find out for yourself

Well if they are part of a tribe who has opened an Indian casino, they are thankful for getting upwards of 35-40k a year for sitting around in their houses and being native american.
Otherwise, they can be thankful for their ancestors letting the Europeans take their land and shoving them in the middle of nowhere.
But, Indians and Europeans ate together today... way back when.

Many cultures have long had 'harvest festival' type celebrations around this time, and as a country we just collectively have a set date and name for it, so why not?
