it is supposed to be a reminder of the the first thanksgiving when native americans helped the pilgrims through the winter in a land they knew nothing about with a big dinner

its a bunch of hog wash

it is now the official begin to the 'holiday season'
another reason for americans to get off work and eat a whole bunch

kinda get your reasoning, inspite of the undeniable fact that it rather isn't any longer in basic terms a holiday to rejoice that one meal with the close by individuals...this is a holiday to think approximately each and every thing we ought to consistently be pleased approximately. and that one meal with the close by individuals, those pilgrims had plenty to be pleased approximately. and for the checklist, i do experience undesirable approximately total 'hi, thank you for the help, now we will take your land and kill you' element, yet that's the twenty first century and that i can not substitute it. plus, this is a exceedingly great united states of america, in case you leave out obama hahaha have a exciting time day after today! savour that pumpkin pie!

in 1621 the pilgrims and the indians (outsiders and indiginous) ate the first supper together. On that site you can find the info about the history of it. Since then, it has been a tradition to gather with the ones you love and give thanks for all the blessings in your life (along with stuffing your face with delicious food) =]

God bless! And happy thanksgiving!

It's kind of a celebration of harvest, when all the food gets picked. And they did it originally because they were thankful for being away from the rules of the king of England. (Little did those poor Native Americans know.......)

The American tradition was simply to give thanks for good fortune, but at present it has become commercialized to the point where its underlying meanings have been lost. Among Native Americans, however, it is a time to be thankful they survived the efforts of white people to exterminate them.

It is a capitalist celebration of over-indulgence that covers up the slaughter of North America's indigenous populations.
