Harland and Wolff yards in Belfast, Ireland, were the builders; White Star lines, were the owners. However, by the time that the Titanic sailed, White Star lines had been bought out by JP Morgan, in a "hostile takeover" of its day. It also had two sister ships built by the same company, called Olympic and Britannic.
