if your running windows xp:

start -> run -> "msconfig"

If someone says to go to the startup folder, ignore them; the registry startup is ignored if you only look at that.

If you are talking about the startup list that is behind the scenes (that is the icons that are not listed in the startup menu folder) there are several ways. The easiet (and arguably the safest) would be to download a program like Codestuff Starter or StartupCop, but you can use msconfig from the "Run" command then under startup you can uncheck the programs you do not want to run at startup.

go to start > run > then type "msconfig". then click on the "start up" tab.
