Starry eye said it best!!! Act the way you want to be, your heart will likely follow. Wallow in it, and you get mired down in the muck!
I posted to your other question also. A way to help is indeed friends, perhaps finding a local support group
I also mentioned that your mother's disease is a terrible one, and finally, that you are very, very brave. I should also mention, noble.

Hi!
Where to start? I'm still almost as much of a recluse as my mom...
Except I found out I had a terrible thyroid disorder that made everything literally ten times more pressure on my body, and therefore my mind. Three- 3!!!- mental health pros couldn't get me over my stuff, and I'm not 100% yet... it was a psychiatrist who took a blood test and discovered the problem that brought me almost immediate peace, two years ago. (Then again, I had already done years of cognitive, emotional work on myself anyway.) Now, I just don't know how to get myself out there.
So, please, before you blame yourself and your mind, and apologize so much for yourself, make sure you are tested for biological problems that show up mostly as anxiety, etc. There are plenty, like thyroid disorders, diabetes, hypoglycemia, and that's just your endocrinological errors. And many are common!
You can e-mail me at afarrell627@yahoo.com, if you like. (I'm too much of a recluse to put that on my public profile, but this is all good.)
Whether you reach out or not, remember to find the best in yourself, and refuse to apologize for minor things. You will respect yourself, and find new respect from others that way. Trust me, I've done it. It works.
Act the way you want to become, and you will become the way you act. It took about eleven years for that advice from an old, long-gone friend to sink into my head. But when it does for you, it will be liberating!

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that sits low on the front of the neck. Your thyroid lies below your Adam’s apple, along the front of the windpipe. The thyroid has two side lobes, connected by a bridge (isthmus) in the middle. When the thyroid is its normal size, you’re unlikely to be able to feel it.
All types of hyperthyroidism are due to overproduction of thyroid hormones, but the condition can develop in several ways.
Thyroid hormone production can be suppressed or halted completely in these ways: https://tr.im/eN96l

See a doctor, get anti-depressants, and go meet normal people... they will tend to bring you down/depress you a lot less than people that have depression. Social phobia- you can take anti-anxiety medication and it will fix that.

Sometimes you need to talk to someone with problems like yourself so you don't feel so alone. I have been clinically diagnosed with PTSD, bipolar mania, and major depression so if you want to chat sometime, email me at jmk21payme@yahoo.com.

sounds like you've got some major problems!!! not sure if making friends with people in the same boat would make you feel any better about yourself... sounds like you'd be better of trying to be around different people and trying to tackle your many issues.
