What you have downloaded is Mozilla Firefox 2 for Windows. To have this browser for Mac OS, you can get it here.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

Choose Mac OS, not Windows or Linux.

Hope this helps.

The reason you can't download and install Firefox is because you're running Mac OS 9. Firefox requires OS X 10.2 or later. Once you upgrade, the download button will appear on the Firefox page.

I would also suggest you stop using Internet Explorer and switch to iCab. IE for Mac was discontinued a long time ago so it really safe to be using it, even on a Macintosh. iCab is one of the very few browsers still being developed and updated for OS 9.

iCab Download:
http://www.icab.de/dl.php

So, to summarise...
1. Upgrade to OS X 10.2 or later.
2. Go to: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
3. Download and install Firefox.
