Rockettes were established in 1925. The first black rockette was Jennifer Jones in 1988 who was actually an alternate but was called in for the super bowl performance that year. Now they claim they are equal opportunity employers, even congratulating themselves a whole lot in the NY times for auditioning one muslim woman. But they are harshly criticized for only having what appears to be 2-3 'token' people of color each year. These women of color tend to perform on bigger telavised shows & parades, but not always the smaller ones. in 2016, you can still see an all white rockettes show in the theater which many argue is not fair. Perhaps these white women are better more experienced dancers that earned their place or perhaps its just one more systemically racist organization feigning diversity. I encourage you to do more research and judge for yourself.

How Many Rockettes Are There

The Rockettes have traditionally been an all white female dancing sensation sponsored by Radio City Music Hall. Now, many African Americans have challenged this fact, and the sponsors of the dance group responded by declaring that a female of color will cause a lack of uniformity in presence, and that is why they keep the group--all White.... And I thought to myself what kind of dumb *** racist answer was this, like many others probably ask as well.
