What is your stance on Croke Park been used for International Football fixtures. There is a lot of outrage considering the massacre that occured. For those that dont remember here it is:
On November 21, 1920 Croke Park was the scene of a massacre by the Auxiliary Division. British police auxiliaries entered the ground, shooting indiscriminately into the crowd killing 13 during a Dublin-Tipperary football match. The dead included 12 spectators and one player, Michael Hogan. The latter, Tipperary's captain, gave his name posthumously to the Hogan stand built four years later in 1924. These shootings, on the day which became known as Bloody Sunday, were a reprisal for the assassination of 12 or 13 British Intelligence officers, known as the Cairo Gang, by Michael Collins' squad earlier that day.

Before I'm completely barratted I'm all for having matches played in Croke Park as I 2 feel it's a fantastic stadium and should be utilised. I watch the English team and follow an English club 'Liverpool' so please dont think I'm against it!!

I suppose the teams just need somewhere to play...I'm okay with it. I mean they hold tons of concerts in Croke Park and international bands play there so why not international football too? Croke Park is a great facility and it should be taken full advantage of.

I am precisely half and half (i.e., Anglo-Irish) in my ancestry, and I think the constant bringing up of past events such as the one you describe (and you should investigate further before making such a bald stement of the event), is an absolutely sterile act which is no more than an attempt to rekindle the stupid tension that existed between my ancestors 80+ years ago. Using your apparent reckoning, English football teams should not allow Germans teams to play on East End of London grounds because the Luftwaffe bombed the hell out of London during WW2. Let's all grow up and live in the 21st Century.

It would be a great opportunity for a formal public apology on the part of the British government, and for pro-Irish sentiments to be expressed by both sides on the occasion of the first game held in the Park. Would that be asking too much?

Two facts, Landsdowne Road is being renovated and the team need somewhere to play, plus, we can't keep living in the past. It's time to move on from all that anti-British stuff. It gets us nowhere.

Its only temporary and the chances of us playing england in that time are very slim at best. So i really dont see what the problem is.
