It would get over the language barrier problem anyway.

I think the Police Service for any area should represent as far as possible the ethnic make-up of that community.

So I've got no problem with having Polish officers, so long as they have all the qualifications needed - including good English, so they can provide a service to the whole community, not just the Polish-speaking part of it.

Good idea locals are not filling these jobs.
There was an ad for the army the other day saying that they are 50% short in some areas and just under 50% of vacancies overall yet we have huge unemployment.
If we won't do the job someone has to but don't whine then about immigration.

Not heard that one before!
The police do recruit people from all backgrounds, so there is no reason why anyone of Polish origin shouldn't become a police officer

Someone in the article you linked to said "I think it's essential that the police speak the language of the people of the area they are in."

I think it's essential that immigrants learn the language of the country to which they move. Why should the host nation always have to make the effort to accommodate them, instead of vice-versa?

the idea is a good one but should be limited to officers that are bilingual so they don't have the same problem that this is trying to solve that of communication with the english speaking officialdom and polish immigrants that aren't bilingual - the ability of these officer to comminicate would not be used just for crime, they could help mediate in many community situations

Why not? Poles are taking all the other jobs over here. They might as well have police force jobs too.

In fact why don't we just rename this country "New Poland"?

I've never heard of a plan like that.

If it is true, shame on Britain. Why can't the Brits police the Poles living there? Who knows.

If they refuse to swear allegiance to her Majesty the Queen, then back on the first plane with the lot of 'em. No place for being PC here (if you pardon the pun. Lol)

I think it is a great idea. Polish police will have already had their expensive police training paid for by the Polish government so we benefit from skilled workers without having to pay for training them.
