We're all emotional wrecks.
I think of past loves every time I hear Hold On Tight by the Communards, and usually shed a wee tear or two.
And as for Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares To You, it's just heart-breaking. The video is so moving.
Then there's Toni Braxton - Unbreak My Heart, or Pet Shop Boys - Being Boring.
They're just beautiful, emotional songs, and I'm not afraid to admit I cry at them.
You should see me when I get on to the classical stuff like Barber's Adagio For Strings, or Durufle's Requiem.
Now, where are my tissues?

That's a good question. I guess that you could be feeling a certin emotion (like sadness), or the song could remind you of something that was sad (or happy, because some people cry when thay are happy) adn then you just cry. This has happened to me many times. I can be in happy overdrive and then the next minuite i can be crying.
I guess that makes it a good song in a way though. One thime I was listening to "SOmehting In THE Way" by NIrvana and i burst into tears. I still dojn't know why

because some songs are just plain sad. other times it is the memories that can cause some tear eyes. i know that some people when they hear a song they think of something that happened when they heard the song. or a song that someone has heard that made them think because of this song i wouldnt be here today as if the song helped someone out. it can go a lot of ways

Because it reminds us of certain times in our lives. Could be happy or sad, but we humans are emotional beings. I have lots of songs that will set me off. I just lost my dad three months ago so pretty much anything by Jimmy Buffett or Joe Cocker reminds me of my dad....three weeks after my dad passed away, my 37 year old boss passed away of a massive heart attack and any time I hear the song" Into The Mystic" by Van Morrison reminds me if him as it was a song that would play on the MUZAK and he just loved it and wanted to know who sang it.

It's hard to say-memories,unfulfilled dreams,or just touched by the song itself. I know the first time I heard 'Through the Barricades' by Spandau Ballet,I cried. I didn't know why, other than I was so touched by the beauty of the song.

Maybe it reminds them of someone or something that has happened in their life. Some people are more sentimental then others...personally, I've never cried over a song but someone people do. Sometimes things just touch us in ways we can't explain.

Sometimes the beat could be sad,the words could be sad,or the people could be emotionally unstable!
