i think that would be a good time to call off the war so all troops could be home and stop this senseless slaughter

No, even though the troops may end up fighting, there is some sort of a holiday meal prepared. Sometimes, celebrities do a USO type tour and visit the roops. No, it's not the same as being home w/ family, but it's a little way to try to bring the holiday spirit to them

A day like any other...stay alive. They are supposedly serving turkey dinners with all the trimmings from 12:00 noon on all day and evening. God bless them all, keep them safe.

My cousin was in iraq during thanksgiving last year... nope! some do but most keep fighting.

I was in the field in Vietnam for both holidays. We didn't really "quit," but the days were treated specially - in acceptable ways - to include special chow.
