Amongst many many other things, Maggie saved this country from the tyranny of the trade unions. Dependant on your age you may not remember the endless strikes, the massive inflation and interest rates of 25%. Yes, and inflation reached that sort of level as well. The Thatcher government attempted to make people less dependant on the state with, for eg, the right to buy your own council house. This, and similar initiatives, have been deliberately mis-represented by left wing/liberal governments, this one particularly included, as creating a selfish society. Absolute rubbish. I have to say though, that the Tories have been very poor at defending themselves against this charge. PR has never been their strong point.
This government pursues the opposite policy to that followed by the Thatcher government, it tries to make people as useless and as dependant on the state as possible. Destruction of the family, single parents, government benefits writ large. These are only a small sample of the tactics it uses. Then it wants to give our country away to the EU and invite endless immigration.

Margaret Thatcher was a great prime minister. She saved this country from being forced into a stagnant soviet style economy by a gang of union bully boys. She had to be tough as the country was on the brink of disaster after being governed by a secession of weak union dominated labour governments. It wasn't her that destroyed the mining communities, it was a combination of greedy unions, incompetent managers and outdated working practises

She is a psychopath who hates anyone inferiour to her. She said that "Anyone on a bus after the age of 40 is a failure" What she means by this is that anyone she deems to be "failures" are not worthy of either help or sympathy. This incudes the disabled, long term ill, single parents, ethnic minorities and most of all, the poor.
Most of the social ills we have today, ASBO kids, ruined communities and societies, urban decay and no hope unemployed are a direct result of her slimy machinations and policies. She is exeptionally evil, when she dies I am going to use her grave as a urinal, even if it is in consecrated ground as well. As to whether she is intelligent, she is not and never will be. No polititians are. I don't suppose the usual numptie dimlo's on Yahoo! answers would know what intelligence is anyway.

A fool no, evil yes, We were the fools for voting her in. With regards to the miners she did destroy them. Out dated working practises yes they were but the miners were willing to negotiate and update those practises but Maggie wouldn't have it she blamed them for the Tories being kicked out in the 70's. She planned on destroying them. Remember her famous words regarding pit closures " there is no list of pits that we want to close down" After she was kicked out by her own party Michael heseltine stood up in parliament and produced the famous non existant list of pits that were to be closed. Now look at us we have to import our coal. If she hadn't interfered with the strike negotiations the strike would have been over long before it was.

No, she was a very shrewd and brave woman, who did her best to get this country back on it`s feet after a succession of poor trade unionist labour governments. You have to give her credit, she didn`t take s*it from any terrorists, if they decided to go on hunger strike, tough, not like the wet heads we`ve got now.

Margaret Thatcher was very intelligent but misguided as most politicians the problem you get to understand years later actually what she did.
She damaged British society possibly forever and turned it into a compassionless rat race.
Her vision was short sighted, as now we wish we had the coal mines to fuel our power stations, as the price of oil and gas is so high. never before in the UK did anyone see a power cut, get ready we will in the future.
She sold the peoples (public) assets to the fat cats of the world for bottom dollar prices, water, electricity, gas, steel, coal, shipbuilding, you name it she sold it and her mates all got directorships.

The greatest primeminister in history, as demonstrated by the strongest economy in history, the greatest world standing since the empire, a chance for everyone to be all they can be, and spent more time at number 10 as demanded by the electorate.
Mrs Thatcher has been called many things by her adversaries...but never a fool.
