Hello,

Do you really mean what IS project management? Well project management is or can be a complex topic but depends very much on the nature of the project.

For example I had to manage a project, the project was to upgrade a computer server room from a tangled chaotic mess into a modern high specification clean room style computer room, which was then to house high quality raq servers for commercial use. This project took 12months and cost £100,000 and involved managing costs i.e. a budget, managing people, managing timing, costing & purchase of new equipement, co-ordinating work with BT and Yorkshire Electricity and so one and the list goes on.

**So project management can be about how you make major changes to something or some situation but in a planned and carefully worked out way, project management allows for a controlled level of change.

Hello dear,

I teach Project Management Certification courses, and the simplest way of putting this is the following:

Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills and tools and techniques of the project management to various project activities to ensure the successful delivery of the project. This includes managing cost, scope, schedule, quality, communication, human resources, risks and procurement in an integrated way.

If you want to know more, check The Project Management Body of Knowledge which you can find at www.pmi.org

Cheers.
