What makes it special? Lol! Aren't you a fan of a band or a book or something? Well, I could ask you the same question. Why do you think your favourite book or movie or actress is special and worth liking? It's just a matter of tastes and preferences. HP may not be special for you, but it's special for HP fans, just like your favourite bands and actors are special to you but not to others.

Gosh, what should I say... describing "why" and "what makes it special" is like describing what cinnamon tastes like... what should I say?
Rather than wasting your 5 points, why don't you flog off someone's Harry Potter book and find out for yourself? Even if you don't get hooked on him, I think at least you'll get an idea why so many people are crazy about him.

Living a life in fantasy land where you are a witch or wizard and go to school for it. Good versus evil. spells and potions. i have read the books, seen the movies and we even have the audio books. there are well written and read. Some people like this stuff and some do not. it is ones personal preferences just like what bands do you like and what makes them great.

besides from the "escapism and fantasy part"(the human mind's defense mechanism from life's harsh realities:rascism,prejuduce,martha stewart,the shopping channel,greed,war,Starbucks,etc)a lot of people believe and practice different forms of "witchcraft" or whatever it is labelled right now.
Actually they're more of earth sciences but most times preceived as "mystical arts".There's a WHOLE LOT of things that exists-WHETHER ONE BELIEVES IN THEM OR NOT.That's why certain religions came up with the idea that these are "evil" or "Devil Science" but the truth is they're afraid they can not control people once they learn the natural ways and laws of nature.I have it,YOU have it,each and everyone does-in one form or DEGREE, the only difference is whether you pursue it or not.There are no such thing as coincidences or a" hunce".It is said that we only use 10% of our brain,can u imagine if we all learned how to use the other 90%?
LOSS OF CONTROL....or controlling people is the main FEAR and reason why people in seats of power will do ANYTHING & EVRYTHING(media,the internet,religion,drug cartels,antidepressants,"Vaccinations") to make you feel stupid -if u believe in these "fantasy & evil non-sense".
it's still your life-your choice.follow their "rules"-or live your life
