max hours in a week?

im 18 in new jersey, and at my part time job, i saw on the schedule on the days im not working, "max"...which means im working the max amount of hours possible, however, i didnt count them up while there

how many hours is the max? i keep thinking 40 but im not sure at all

40 - 45hrs per week is the max hours of normal time that any employer is allowed to make you work. If you are required to work more hours than the max, then there is a different rate of pay catagory for each hour over & above the normal hours. Bearing in mind that overtime must be an agreement between the employer & employee. Check your conditions of employement, that aslo stipulates the max amount of overtime any employee is allowed to work per day as well as per week,
