In my interpretation of where David lost, the blue fairy was in fact himself. He could only become a real boy, if he believed in himself and his own abilities as a human. He could then see that it is possible for a robot to replicate, just as humans can. Therefore, he needed to learn to become a robot creator!

If I'm correct here, you don't mean the Blue Fairy, you mean the Knowledge CG knowledge bank voice who helps our heroes. It's an example of a human machine interface, exhibiting human-like characteristics, some narrow domain knowledge and even a hint of personality.

Apologies if I'm wrong.

yes it is the blue fairy.....the blue fairy was a trick to mess with the robo boys head ......as far as i can remember in watching the film...
