It is because you are alone and have been used to having people around you on these occasions. you need to just understand that it will be okay and to make the best of the day. Be positive, try and find some friends that you can go and be with for the day and just enjoy their company and good food

Because your used to being with the whole family, and now things have changed. Every holiday is hard at first, but you will survive; trust me I've been through it too. This year for Thanksgiving it is only going to be me and my son. We are too poor to have the traditional dinner this year, and there are no places in our little town to go to for the poor, we probably won't have Christmas either. But we have each other, and I'm thankful for that.

..because it's your first 'holiday' alone (when you know there's no turning back). It's a hard thing, spending 'family' time away from someone whose been family for so long!

Just focus on getting through the day, and making time pass quickly by keeping busy..

Things can only get better!

Wishing you enjoyment and satisfaction as you make new memories (and perhaps traditions) of the holidays.

All the best!

It's because it's not a "normal" day. It's a day for friends and family to come together. And your "family" has changed.

But, focus on your life. Enjoy your friends and enjoy the holidays.

Probably because the ex was the one who did all the planning for the holiday and now there is no one to be your party planner.

Trust me its not just the first one... ten years later its still easier to stay at home rather than be in a crowd alone.
I am not unhappy single, but I hate holidays.

If it makes you feel better, Christmas will be far worse. So perk up, and enjoy the turkey as the worst is yet to come. Hope this helps. Happy Turkey day.
