How has the obesity epidemic in North America affected our children? what are the main causes? why has this happened? what can we do to solve it? ...I am writting an essay on this topic if anyone can think of a wicked thesis, or title for it give it a go!

The primary cause is that we, as a society, generally, have become lazy and self-indulgent.
Unfortunately, it will not be solved--we will go the way of the Roman empire, and fall into oblivion (self destruct) in another couple of generations.

As for a title or thesis, hey, use a little creativity on your own.

By eating the wrong foods. They need a whole change of eating habits. Like becoming vegetarian because of the horrible way the meat is process and the growth hormones to make them fat makes the people fat. There is this circle of friends who have started to eat different. We didn't want to be in high school and be fat. Even the eggs and milk has hormones and medicines in it. We also don't eat snack foods or over processed foods such as white flour, sugar or to much salt.
By eating a whole grain such as oatmeal and soy milk and fruit for breakfast. Eating whole grain bread and veggie meat for lunch. We fry the morning star farms grillers in oil and onion slices. Onions are good for strong bones. Then we found whole wheat buns. To make our hamburgers. We make our own french fries by spraying potatoes with pam and baking.
Or using carrot sticks and celery sticks and ranch dressing as dips. for healthy snacks. We have learned to make tacos, spaghetti and we do eat cheese raviolis, our favorite when we go out with guys. Vegetarian pizza, everything on it but meat.
Very thin crust. Some of us had a very bad weight problem and we were all to fat. Tried every diet and diet pill on the market.
We swim, ride horses, jog and do exercises, ride bikes and nothing helped until we did this after a study on agriculture and how farm animals are processed for eating. Dairy farms and the drugs they are given. After this study we got together and made a decision to go vegetarian. Many had been on Atkins diet and gained it back. Reading Susan Summers eat all the meat you want diet. A giant discovery after a while we started losing weight.
Not and then gain it back stuff, it kept coming off. Not fast but steady. Then soon after a year we were all skinney. Eating all we wanted of healthy food. Our friends acne cleared up and all our complexions were better. she had tried so many drugs and needles and poison. We also noticed are skin was firmer and our complesions was better. Rosey cheeks and bright eyes and we did better in school. while the other kids made fun of us.
We started looking a lot better. Now the other kids are looking into the healthy vegetarian soymilk diet. They have soymilk drinks and the whole nine yards. We just quit eating anything that comes from an animal.

In my opinion the outside play has been slashed due to video games tv shows movies etc...that being said...its really not a safe world to throw you children out the back door like my mother did with us...way too dangerous...add to this an over abundant food supply...and of course children are going to be overweight..also, I think kids get bored easily and tend to grab a snack for lack of better things to do...and it really comes down to cause and effect....drive thru fast foods way to accessible to busy parents...big big problem for some

In my opinion its BAD PARENTING first and foremost. I make 25 grand a year...i cannot afford to dine on junkfood. I cook!!!! Fat kids are being abused by lazy parents who fill them up with empty calories and then set them down infront of the tv. Kids aren't outside anymore. I'm suire a lot of 30 years olds remember when they and their friend ruled the streets. Now, the streets are quiet.

My 3 year old gets tossed out the house if he's in it too long AND the tv isn't on all day, MUSIC is.

PARENTS and only the PARENTS. Its not Macdonalds fault because YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EAT THERE!!!!!

it starts with the parents.kids are not born fat.the eating habits of all people are formed in the early stages of childhood.mommy,im hungry,mommy im thirsty!so you stuff a twinkie down thier gullet and get on with your tv show.you dont structure thier meals or thier portions so like fish, they eat until they explode.you over protect them and dont allow them to run and play,instead you supply them with video games and disney movies and stuff them with snackes while they sit motionless on thier fat little keisters.you dont want them to get hurt so you dont let them play sports,your too lazy to play with them so you take them to mcdonalds and stuff them with unhappy meals and send them on the playground.they drink gallons of soda rather than water or juice,you fry rather than broil or bake,they get cookies rather than fruit for a snack,and people woner why they grow into lard a-ses.and the media helps too.ever try to diet while watching someone on tv stuffing a big juicy cheeseburger into thier face?or how about the pizza commercial where the pizza guy is hanging around with the fat little brownie dude??"oh fudgeums...we love you" get real.we are becoming a nation of slobs because between lazy parents and tempting food ads our children dont have a chance.feed them right and let them play and they will grow up like we did...healthy...thanks mom for not giving me garbage to eat and for letting me run and play and be free under your watchful eye,for being protective,but not over protective,and most of all for the good genes and healthy meals and snacks.
