hey I have been keeping flowerhorns for three years now, they are a crossbreed,of the amphilophus genera like devils ,midas ,trimacs, haiti and so on.flowerhorns are very aggressive fishes, uber aggressive at best keep one specimen in one tank.no other fishes, same or otherwise.if your horns a small one say 4 inches then i29 gals okay, but get him a tank of 55 gals or 75 gals the bigger the tank the better. they grow to be smidge bigger than oscars 12-14 inches in a fairly large tank of say 75gals. I saw one that was old and 16 inches.they are nothing like oscars, dempseys or the lot, they are more closer to devils and midas in behaviour.

In a 29 gallon tank you have very little room to work with when it comes to cichlids - they are active and territorial, and need lots of room. For your size tank, think no bigger then about 5-6" for a fully grown fish. The types you should be considering are Firemouth, Convict, or any of similar size.

dont get them if you have only a 29. one per 55 gal tank and they get up to 12 inches and they are very territorial so you can only have it by itself. for a 29 gal tank i would recommend looking at green terrors or convicts if you really want chichlids

If you're planning on breeding them, I wouldn't buy babies. Scour the pet shops for some interesting mature adults as those colours will be passed into the offspring when you breed them. I used to breed guppies and by combining the most interesting ones you can find you can get some amazing results.

Wait a sec... let me check...

Okay. They need at least 120 gallons and grow to 12'' long and sometimes over 16'' long.
