Well, of course everyone can be replaced. The world got along without us 100 years ago, and it will get along without us 100 years from now.

That's not the point.

Your question says "if my society"... and that suggests that you have an erroneous attitude to Life.

You are an individual. Society is a collection of individuals. Without the individual, there IS no "society". Without society, there will still be individuals. Think about that.

Stop trying to define yourself in terms of "society". Start thinking about yourself as an individual, because the individuals define society, not the other way around.

Did it ever occur to you that the question isn't "what does society need ME for?" but "what do I need society for?"

A person fills a position. That position may or may not have existed before you filled it. If, and you will leave that position, it may be filled by another person or it may be deleted. One should not think that they can not be replaced as everyone can. Times change and the need for a person in a certain position change either by there being someone more qualified or the fact that you have grown and will be promoted into another position. If you have not grown or remained the best person for the position then you should be replaced.
Just because you lose a position should not be grounds for not living. I was replaced in my position because my bosses wanted to cut back and my position was eliminated. I was retired and have loved every moment of it. If you are not ready to retire then find another position that you would like and apply for it. You might find the next position you take to be just as challenging as the one you were removed from.

While 'almost' everybody can be replaced 'on paper', each of us offers unique insights and perspective in what we do & say every day. Find a way to offer your own unique vision to what you do in life and you can never be replaced.

Einstein. Da Vinci. Mozart. Michaelangelo. Rodan. Martin Luther King. Roosevelt. The list goes on...

You can replace the activities the person is performing but not their consciousness, kindness, and personality.

Life is not random and your responsibility is to find out what you are supposed to do in this life.
