My baby wakes up screaming due to gas build-up that she needs to release..

Simply he/she could be having a bad dream, or trapped gas. When my child was that old I found that if I exposed her to too much of her world around her in 1 day that she would get so overwhelmed, and be screaming/crying in her sleep also. Once I limited her to the amount of places we went, and the amount of diffrent things we seen in the run of a day she was more settled at night, and no longer had bad dreams.

My son started doing the same thing when he was that age. It will pass, and if you haven't already let him sleep with a stuffed animal. Once I gave my son a little friend to sleep with at night he stopped. At this age, he is getting more independent but still needs to be comforted when you are not around. Good luck.

Both my kids went through that phase too. For each one it lasted a couple of months, then they grew out of it. Just keep them as comfortable and reassured as you can while it is happening - try and make sure there is nothing going on digestive-wise (no illness or fever), that no clothing is irritating them etc. Once you rule out those type of things just comfort them & get them through the phase - it's tiring I know! but it's not forever!

My son did this for a long time - the doctor said it was probably growing pains, since he was over the 95% percentile of his age group.
