At the end of the film, Versper Lynd locks herself into the falling lift shaft.... Why?!! I know she had betrayed Bond but he was trying to get her out. Couldn't she have tried to talk her way out of it?!

I saw the movie and I believe that she was trying to protect her kidnapped boyfriend and Bond at the same time. What I mean by that is the fact that all she ever did was to try and get that money in order to pay Ransom for her kidnapped boyfriend (I'm still not sure why was he kidnapped). Once she did, Bond was after her, she was afraid that they would kill her boyfriend if she ever told anything, that is why she died. At the end you see Bond shooting some guy in the leg (remember that in the beginning of the movie that guy also appeared in the opening scene) , he deliberately didn't kill him since he wanted to get the information out of him- where is the girl's boyfriend and what on Earth is he going to do with 150 million dollars (I think it was that much). So basically the movie has an open ending so that the next James Bond movie, Bond would be chasing the bad guys that are responsible for the kidnapping. I hope this helped.
