Well, i guess two different varieties of species mated to yield an egg from which a chicken like variety came out....and since this variety was more adaptable to nature according todarwin's theory, it survived and gradually became the chicken of today.

You could ask the same thing with any animal that lays eggs. Why is it always the chicken? In my opinion it was the chicken first.
