The first one is 1000 and the other one is 900. I play games like Warcraft and Counter-Strike 1.6 once in a while. Sometimes I burn DVDs and use Photoshop.

I looked at the specs and they are basically a wash. Then I looked at the model, and I have the HP dv9000 also, but with a faster processor and some extra goodies (I paid 1300). I am VERY pleased with the notebook, except all the software that HP preinstalled that I removed. You will be very pleased with either though.

Get the HP. It will be a monster with 2Gb of ram. The video memory isn't great, but it will play those games on the low-medium setting. You shouldn't expect great gaming from a laptop anyway unless you want to spend <$2000

If I were buying one of these, I'd go with the 2nd one. Why? Well, first of all, it comes with 2gb of ram! Next, it's a 17 inch monitor (I couldn't find the size of the first one). It comes with more hard drive space 160gb vs. 120gb. AND, it comes with a free upgrade to Windows Vista when it is released.
Yep, that would be my choice.

Go for the HP one. More performance less money. They've both got approximatly the same specs its the just processor that change. Definitely the HP one.
