This is for the course called Sports in American History. The paper is due December 4th, so I feel I should start working right now. I checked out some books on Jim Thorpe, footballer, but I don't know how my paper should go. Should I focus on one aspect, for example his influence on politics? I really don't know how I should approach. If you have written this kind of paper, please teach me what other references I need and the like. THanks

Jim Thorpe should be an easy subject for your essay because he is so multi-faceted. You can look at his influence as a Native American athlete, a multi sport athlete, an Olympian (who had his medals stripped, then reinstated 30 years after his death). Legend has it that when King Gustav V of Sweden presented Thorpe with one of his awards, Thorpe said "thanks, King".
