Do any parents enjoy it? It was definitely magical when I was a child, now that I am the mum it's really just all hard work and pressure.

I do agree with you. I make it the best I can. I don't go to family Christmas day and they don't come to me. I cook the whole dinner, tidy up but I will make sure I have time for my little girl.
The build up to it is pressure, getting money together/buying presents etc.
What makes my Christmas is seeing my little girls face on Christmas morning.
I will give the best Christmas I can because one day she will be sitting here writing this.

my best Christmas memory when i was a child was eating Christmas breakfast with mom, dad, my grand mother and grandfather and my great uncle and aunt. when my children were small it was when they were about 3 and 4 and watching there eyes light up at all the packages under the tree. yes parents can enjoy it after all the hard work and pressure is over just to look at how happy your kids are on Christmas morning.

Lying in bed trying to listen for Santa's sleigh, having a big family meal at my Grandmother's table....the list goes on.

I think Christmas loses some of it's magic when you have to be the grown up, but in 20 years time your little ones with look back on magical Christmas's as we are doing now BECAUSE you made this huge effort and worked really hard!

Wow, that made me think. They've all been good, but for some reason I remember the Christmas when I was 12 years old. I got my first jewelry box, books, and my first makeup sampler. I felt grown up I guess.

As an adult, it was 6 years ago after my divorce and I bought myself a little Christmas tree with a tiny strand of lights. I also bought myself some very nice clothes as a gift to myself. It was so nice to be alone and free again and just relax.

I know what you mean Georgy, but i think well i had my magical Christmasses as a child, so must try and do the best i can for my own kids - now youngest is 18 the pressure is not so much.

Cut out what you can and preserve the best bits, thats the only advice i can give.

Last year when I got a Nintendo D.S. I had wanted it so much! My parents decided to torture me and insist that they wouldn't buy me it. I cried at the store and they offered to buy me other things, but I didn't want to talk to them. That Christmas eve when I opened that present. . . I was sooo ashamed! It was also cool, because my brother and I got along for like the first time in forever!
