It really depends where you are located. I am in Houston, and the same electric companies are in Dallas. For some reason, Dallas is cheaper. Unfortunately, you will have to research for your area to have a definite rate. The newer companies are usually cheaper and have better sign up rates, but the thing to watch out for is contract length, and how the rates go up after the introductory rate. Be careful.. There are a lot of great offers, but always read the fine print :)

It all depends on where you live and, with gas, whether the pipeline is owned by an independant operator or by Transco.

Wish I knew as I have just got stung for £300 - I spoke to company that informed me that my consumption has increased from 90p a day to £1.60 due to inflation....
