dont beleive all the rubbish they put in the papers and put on the radio - there is not much exciting stuff going on in the world so the press feels the need to make up stories from some pointless statistic published somewhere
i remember reading somewhere recently about the UK having the highest death rate from heart attacks/failures in europe - its complete crap - no-one really knows which country is the worst because of the way we record deaths. If you're male and die aged 72 in the UK from heart failure then you are considered to have died from heart failure and are added to the statistics. If you are male and 72 and die of excatly the same in France then you are considered to have died from old age. See how easliy it is to fudge the numbers to report that the UK has the highest rate of death from heart failures in europe! And this does not just apply to death its the same in illnesses etc. We are about the only country in the western world that do not consider old age a reason for dying - stupid eh!
i feel sorry for those who like to read about negative things - i've not purchased a newspaper in years and very rarely listen to the radio news or the tv news come to that. current affairs are reported properly by reputable outfits such as reuters - all other news is dressed up to try to sell papers or make you listen to a radio station longer than another

Very interesting responses. If survey results are unflattering they are said to be flawed - If they make us look good they are spot on! Being a surveyor is a profession - they are well trained and I am sure most do or try to do their job responsibly. So the rule is believe those conducted by reputable surveyers or pollsters, but question some of those conducted by newspapers and and the like.

Apparently we are high on the list for generally being the me me me culture.
Competing with America for carrying guns as long as your under age and the law can not touch you and saying I am really cool because I have a gun and will use it so you can think really cool and want to go out with me male/female.
Oh there are so many more but I am probably going to getting some ones hackles up.

I was about to ask a question about statistics - as I simply don’t trust them.
According to some woman on TV recently, 1 in 4 men has been violent to their wives/partner…I think that is rubbish (& does nothing for her cause) & is a slur on the male population.
