I have yet to find anyone who installs Sims without getting problems. Just make sure you have all the up to date Microsoft patches. ( is your automatic updates turned on?) Or click Start help and supprt windows updates. If your happy everything is fairly updated then the answers concerning your graphics card are quite valid. If you are not sure of what you have you can download a little utility called Belarc Advisor. ( use your search engine) Once downloaded and installed it gives you a list of all the hardware and software currently on your PC. This will help when looking for driver updates. Best of Luck,

You need the latest version of Direct X. you can download it from Microsoft. You may also need a latest video card drivers. If you have Intel, go to intel.com if you have nvidia, go to nvidia.com, if you have ATI, go to Ati.com make sure you select your video card there so they can give the latest drivers. You should download from Microsoft because it is genuine unlike in other sites, there maybe a bundled spyware.

Ma'am, I'm afraid I need to inform you that Sims 2 has been constantly reported to be not loading properly or crashing.
I'd suggest that you kindly ask the Vendor that you bought it from to replace it for you.
Have a nice day.

Check (EA?) the website of the game publisher and see if there's a patch to download and install on top of the game you've already installed.

you have to have a video card that supports direct x 9. Look and see who makes your video card, go to their website and see if it's compatible. I use to run a voodoo 3 video card - it wouldn't support 9.0 so I bought a new video card.
