Of course! You still have 3 and a half years to bring your GPA up, and along with your GPA colleges also look at your SAT's, extra curricular activites etc. Usually, if your GPA is lower than you've hoped for, then if you do really, really well on your SAT's (and vice versa) most colleges will accept you (along with other factors that affect their decision).

At my interview with my school they were more concerned about my progress in high school as a whole, as for me, my first and second year were my worst and I improved as an upperclassman.

Hope this helps...Your life isn't over :)

You can absolutely get into a good school. As other answers have said, colleges look for grade trending so work on improving now...also get involved in some extracurricular activities and not just sports. Service clubs like Key Club or Beta Club are great and obviously Honor Societies are a must.

Also, and this is important, DO COMMUNITY SERVICE!!! Colleges love to see diversity right now, and teenagers are not all that willing to perform a whole lot of community service on their own so set yourself apart and really get involved in a cause! Pick a volunteer activity and really go for it. Not only will this experience look great on a college ap and get you acquainted with some people who can give you a letter of recomendation from a unique perspective, but it is good for the soul. :) It will teach you a lot about yourself!

Finally, don't get hung up on ivy league. Did you know that out of the top 100 companies in America 43% have CEOs who did not go to an ivy league college!!! Enjoy life and live it as a journey. The destination is not an ivy league school, or a high powered job, but to be surrounded by people who you love and love you. At the end of the day eulogies don't include your GPA or you diploma facts, but instead the great friends and family you left behind and the challenges you overcame while making contricutions to the world!

University of Michigan is a top level university. Don't worry too much about grades, because high school grades are often subjective. Some teachers are easier graders than other. Pay more attention to standardize test like the SAT and ACT. That's a better indicator how intelligent you are because everyone must take those tests and everyone is graded the same. Also make sure you play nicey-nicey with a few teachers, you're going to need strong recommendations to get into UM.

That is your job, worrying about the future too much will impact on your grades just have a good time make friends enjoy your outdoor pursuits etc. Be a nice person and if you don't get to go to Michigan well there is life without college Come to another country and relax !!!

If you keep your focus on your dream, you can do it. Keep working hard to improve your grades.

College admissions departments like to see that you are a well-rounded person. Stay involved in activities at school and in the community, and take leadership positions whenever possible (captain, president, etc.). Develop your writing skills and remember what is important to you.

But don't forget to have some fun while you're in high school! Be a kid while you can.

You can still get into a good college. Your GPA is really important, so work harder next semester. Colleges look at the big picture-get involved in clubs/activities/etc. Don't limit yourself to just UM, though. Keep your options open. When the time comes, look at lots of schools. Best of luck to you!

Sure. Although colleges heavily use your hischool GPA, they also look to see how you're trending ie: are you making better grades when you were younger and now slacking as you get older, or have you matured and are now doing better as a senior.
